Hey y’all!!! Officially done with round 8 and 2/3 through treatment!! So happy to only have four more left! This past weekend I learned a lot and would love to share about it.

True Beauty Comes From Within

After this last round, the day finally came and I decided to shave my hair. My part was getting very wide and every time I touched my hair about 10 pieces would fall out. I’m so grateful to have had my good friend, and the first person to ever cut my hair when I was young, shave it for me. I had both my grandma and my mom there and was comforted by having them by my side.

The night before I decided to shave it, I was touching my hair and seeing so much come out. When I was doing so, I heard the words “do it”. I was sure this was God speaking to me and affirming me to shave it. I didn’t want to at first though, I wanted to hold on to what was left just because of fear of what I might be without hair. I soon read my devotional for that night and the title was “Do it For God”. I was in shock that was the title after what I heard. The devotional was about how sometimes what God wants us to do is hard and uncomfortable. However, he makes everything work together for good and to help strengthen us. We must obey his calling and take it on as a conqueror, knowing He is doing it for a reason.

Sometimes in life God will call us to do something we don’t personally want to do. However, we must obey and do it for Him because He is an almighty God who has a reason and purpose for everything. Sometimes the things that God calls us to do that are uncomfortable lead to unthinkable growth that we could have never achieved without doing it.

All that being said, shaving your head is hard. Especially as a woman, it easily becomes part of your identity. Looking in the mirror is still hard for me. But with this change my faith is being tested. When negative thoughts roll through my head about it I bring myself back to His word, the truth.

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornments, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.” (1 Peter 3:3-4)

"Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised" (Proverbs 31:30)

These verses clearly show how my beauty and worth never has and never will come from my hair. My beauty comes from the faith I have and the woman of God I am.

I miss my hair but I will never take it for granted ever again. This is a small price to pay to be healthy again and beat this cancer once and for all. I know in His perfect timing it will come back and until then I’m grateful to have a beautiful wig to wear! And in the moments I will not be able to wear my wig I will slowly but surely own my shaved head!

Sometimes life will be harder than you think, but there will always a reason to smile.

Grace this is so beautiful, and I’m in awe of how you’re finding such solid footing in the truth that you ARE the radiant woman that God says you are, with, or without hair!

Dear Grace, it was wonderful to meet you on your grandma Donna’s birthday, your Faith radiates from you! 🙏🏻💜

I want to encourage you about your hair, I lost a lot of my hair due to stress after my husband died. It came back thick, healthy and CURLY, I’ve never had curls before. So be prepared for a surprise when your hair regrows! 🤓❤️

Continuing our prayers for your complete recovery. 🙏🏻
